Navigating the Data Landscape: A Year in Review and the Road Ahead in 2024

A review of 2023 and exciting news about next year

As we bid farewell to 2023, it's the perfect time to reflect on the journey AIMM have had in delivering outcomes for our valued customers in the realm of Business Intelligence (BI) and data services.

This year, our team has been hard at work, harnessing the power of data to drive decision-making, optimising operations, and developing greenfield data warehousing solutions to aide the delivery of meaningful insights to our clients.

In this blog, i'll provide a summary of the key highlights and achievements from AIMM in 2023 and offer a glimpse into the exciting new avenues we plan to explore in 2024 to provide even more comprehensive data services to our customers.

2023: A Year of Delivering Data-Driven Outcomes

Data Warehousing Excellence:

In 2023, our team continued to excel in data warehousing projects, specifically delivering data warehouses/marts and ETL processes using the Microsoft Azure stack.

We’ve helped Clients with their data warehouse projects across the following sectors:

  • Transport & Logistics

  • Healthcare

  • Travel & Leisure

  • HR

  • Utilities

We’ve worked on projects developing greenfield data warehousing architectures which simplified and enhanced our clients' data assets and BI portfolios.

A particular achievement i’ll call out by the team was the delivery of an Azure SQL Data Warehouse which provided the “one stop shop” solution that our Client was looking for to simplify the BI Infrastructure in their business.

Advanced Reporting and Visualisation:

We’ve delivered numerous reporting suites through Microsoft PowerBI to our customers this year, which have helped decision-making across and number of departmental user groups:

  • Directors & Senior Leaders

  • Finance

  • Transport & Logistics

  • Production

  • Health & Safety

  • Facilities & Maintenance

  • Procurement

  • HR

We developed intuitive dashboards and reports that enabled clients to gain a deeper understanding of their data, helping them make informed decisions with confidence.

Again, i’ll call out a particular achievement which was helping one of our Clients to understand how their production schedule and stock purchasing/procurement affected cash flow. The reporting suite we delivered gave clearer insight into freeing up cash and creating better procurement processes.

Tailored Data Strategies:

One size does not fit all when it comes to data strategies. In 2023, we worked closely with our customers to develop tailored data strategies aligned with their unique business goals. These strategies paved the way for more effective data utilisation and enhanced competitive advantage.

Customer Success Stories:

Throughout the year, we celebrated numerous success stories with our customers. From cost savings through to data-driven decision making used when production planning, to developing efficient recruitment pipelines, our solutions made a tangible impact on businesses across many industries and sectors.

2024: Exploring New Avenues for Complementary Data Services

Expanding BI Services:

From the beginning of 2024, we are excited to expand our current BI Services by offering support to our clients with development needs in Tableau for reporting & analysis and Snowflake development & consultancy.

Tableau falls only second to PowerBI in terms of usage of BI tools across UK businesses and with experienced consultants across both applications, we’re incredibly excited to be able to help Clients with their BI projects,

Snowflake has become the go-to solution for Cloud data warehousing. We’re massive fans here at AIMM, especially given how SQL-obsessed we’ve previously been (possibly me just speaking for myself there!).

In addition to our core BI services which are focused on Microsoft technologies, i’m proud to announce that we’re also expanding our development services across the Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate.

AI:

AI has certainly been the hot topic across the entire globe in 2023.

In 2024 it’s our intention here at AIMM to disrupt and change Business Intelligence for the better by harnessing the power of AI and machine learning.

There will be more to come on this in the near future, but our aim is to empower businesses who have found the total cost of ownership and value proposition of BI to be unappetising, the speed of providing insight for decision-making too slow, and the skills shortage and market availability an issue on time to hire.

Keep an eye on our LinkedIn page for more details as they’re announced.

This one is BIG and massively exciting!

Data Security and Governance:

As data privacy and security become increasingly critical, we will invest in enhancing data security measures and governance frameworks. Our clients can rest assured that their data assets will be protected in compliance with evolving regulations.

Thought Leadership:

To continue being at the forefront of the data & BI industry, we will actively share our insights and expertise through thought leadership content, webinars, and in-person events. We aim to be a trusted resource for our clients and the broader data community.

Conclusion:

In retrospect, 2023 was a year of significant achievements and milestones in delivering data-driven outcomes for our customers.

As we embark on the journey into 2024, we are excited about the new opportunities and challenges ahead. Our commitment remains unwavering—to empower businesses with data and to be a trusted partner in their data journey.

Together, we'll navigate the ever-evolving data landscape and unlock new possibilities for success in the years to come.

Stay tuned for more updates and insights as we venture into 2024!
